He would have been 88 years old



Today is Dad's birthday. I'm feeling so sad, and I know I am not alone in that emotion. He would have been 88 years old today. The headstone marker for his grave site arrived yesterday; they were in the process of placing it at the time Jimmy and I and Mom were there visiting, at about 10 am in the morning. Jimmy and I went back today to put more flowers for Dad's birthday, and we took some photos. Here is one; click on the image to see it larger.

Tom and Janice are supposed to be here later this morning - they are coming to celebrate June's birthday with her (gonna be a ripe ole 25 years old), and will stay tonight and tomorrow at Mom's house. She spent last night alone in her house; she is slowly getting stronger. On Tuesday I will go with mom to her checkup with her doctor, and then she hopes to go visit her sister in Chicago on Thursday or so... depening upon if and when Tommy can get her a freebie ticket on the airline.

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S.
