Mary Borrelli

Mary Borrelli (94 years old) has been visiting her 89 year old sister Emily Tate here in Arizona for the past couple of months, and now it looks like she is nearly ready to wend her way back to windy Chi-town. She will be here till April 12th so if anyone else wants to visit with her while she's still in the Wild West, better do it now. This weekend I'll be taking them to visit with Mary Wroten, and they are excited about that. Cheryl will be there too, and I'm looking forward to seeing her again. We live so near each other but somehow don't get to visit each other often enough. And the best treat of all is that Cheryl will have Melonie's twins, Robert and Brittany, with her - so Mom and Mary Borrelli will get to see them as well. Mel's funeral was the last time Mom saw them, and the Chicago reunion was the last time Mary Borrelli got to see them. So hopefully it will be a wonderful weekend... why not join us?

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S. I am printing out all the wonderful comments to the blog and also the emails I've received from so many, and taking them to Mom to read.
