Ariel, Efrat coming to visit!!


Talk about excited. I'm as happy as a little kid getting ready to raid a candy store. Nephew Ariel [Sherry's eldest child], his wife Efrat, son Eran, and daughter Adi are coming to Arizona to visit next Saturday. It will be the first time the children have been to the U.S.

They will be staying in Arizona for 10 days, then will go to Disneyland (where else?!) for the kids to meet Mickey Mouse, and then they'll drive up the coast to Washington State. After a few days visit with the Whetstones there, they will fly back to New York and on to Tel Aviv again.

Mom [Emily] is even more excited than me I think, this will be the first time she will get to see her great-grandchildren. I understand Eran has been practicing English, and Sherry tells me that Adi has mastered the phrase, "Gramma, this tastes delicious!"

Anyone wanting to visit with them while they are in AZ are most welcome - please call or email either Ariel or me (or leave a comment to this post) and we'll make sure you get together while they are here. I know they want to see as many family and friends as possible while here; that is the whole point of the visit!

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S. I am printing out all the wonderful comments to the blog and also the emails I've received from so many, and taking them to Mom to read.
