Discharge Date in Sight

The Powers That Be at the Hearthstone nursing facility have rumored that Mary just MIGHT be discharged tomorrow... so everybody keep your fingers crossed! Mary wants to try living at her own home, so Cheryl will be moving in with her on a temporary basis to see how she does. Mary will still require oxygen, a walker, etc. but I have never seen anyone with such a fantastic iron will as this woman. Go, Mary, Go!!

I've been wondering, has Cousin Mary been discharged to home yet? Both Cousin Mary and Aunt Mary are powerhouses to be reckoned with!!! We have such great inspiring women to emulate ... what treasures they are!

Sherry, Yes, Mary has been discharged and is home again, doing SO MUCH BETTER, I might add. I have been remiss in letting folks know. Mary is still on oxygen 24/7 but she no longer depends upon the walker to move around, and in fact last week Cheryl brought her to our house for lunch!

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S. I am printing out all the wonderful comments to the blog and also the emails I've received from so many, and taking them to Mom to read.
