Arrivals, Departures, and Good Wishes

I got so wound up in my last post I forgot why I started to make a post in the first place... to let ya'll know when folks are arriving. Here's the schedule as we know it today: (provided of course the good doctor doesn't rearrange things again!)
  • Sherry has already arrived and is staying at Tom/Emily's.
    She can stay till the 31st of March.
  • Robin will arrive on Sunday March 26 and will stay till April 4.
    Robin will also stay at Mom/Dad's.
  • Tommy ... (info deleted at his request)
  • David should be back from NC (Scott's wedding) tomorrow.
  • And I am here, like the moss you can't scrape off the side of a tree.

We've received an abundance of phone calls and emails from folks sending Dad good wishes. His brother Richard called him, nephew Rick also telephoned and emailed, Mary Borrelli, Edith Hern, RickeyLynn, and more have called. Emails have arrived from the Roots, Gans, Mary Wroten, and so many more I can't list them all here. You know who you are, and I want you to know that your thoughts and prayers are SO very much appreciated!! I am amazed at how blessed we are with such family and friends. God bless you all.

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S. I am printing out all the wonderful comments to the blog and also the emails I've received from so many, and taking them to Mom to read.
