Another one of our Boys is safely home

Image
Just got word that Devon, our "adopted" son, is safely home from Afghanistan. His tour of duty lasted a year (he's in the Army) and he is now back at his home-base in Italy. His mom and girlfriend won't get to see him till March when he gets to come back Stateside, but we are all just glad he is finished with his tour. He said he is thrilled to see trees and grass again. So now both David and Devon are finished with their tours of duty, and I am feeling grateful. Next is Scott, who will probably be leaving within the next months for the mideast. God bless all our men and women in Uniform who protect Freedom!

DadTate Still in Holding Pattern

Image
Dad Tate (Tom) was scheduled to see Dr Nelson et al yesterday February 20th... and just before heading out for the appointment he received a phone call from the doc's office delaying the appointment. Apparently the doc had other business or was called out of town or whatever. So dad is still in a holding pattern and we are awaiting another date to meet with Dr Nelson. Meantime, Jimmy baked a fantastic pasta al forno and we took it over to mom and dad's for a great lunch. Going back next Sunday to help out with some yard work, anybody want to join?

Note from Dianne in Florida

The town of Sebastian is quite small still. I plan to check the population but I'm guessing 50K or less. what a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively! Still vacant lots around here and there on my street. A new house is going up just next door and across the street. Not a tract housing neighborhood so all are custom builds. My house is older, built in 1986, and one of the smallest on block, which is good investment wise. Others will bring my value up. It is in excellent shape though, brand new roof and paint job in and out. All tile and laminate floors and nice big backyard. Perfect for me! Di

Happy Valentine's Day

I heard a talk show host asking today WHY a man should get his wife/girlfriend a Valentine's Day card... he felt it was totally unnecessary and wanted to know WHY a woman would even want a Valentine's Day card. Maybe it's because I am a woman but to me the answer is painfully obvious: it is an open declaration of love. And sadly, it's sometimes the only occasion on which some women will ever receive such a display of affection from their mate. Too often I hear men reflect the sentiment, " I don't HAVE to voice my love for you. I am still HERE, aren't I?" To a woman, that is absolute trite, and almost an insult. Women respond to courtship; and the courtship should not end on the wedding day. Too many people don't realize that a successful marriage is a work of art requiring continual finessing, not something you abandon on the day it was born. And PS: Yes, I DO get my HUSBAND a Valentine's card and gift- he deserves to hear my public di...

DAVID IS HOME

So much has happened since my last post, I am unsure of where to start. Therefore I will make it short and sweet: DAVID WHETSTONE IS HOME. His tour of duty in Iraq is over and he will remain stationed in North Carolina till May or June, when he will be sent to Korea for a year. He's trying to get posted to either Arizona or Washington after that for his final year in the Air Force. He got two weeks furlough upon his return so I went to visit him for a few days and we had a wonderful time just "chilling." Now he's in Washington for a few days before he has to go back to work. THANK YOU to everyone for your prayers while he was overseas. He says it was an experience he will never forget: a lot of work, a lot of tension, and at times a lot of fun, and he is glad to be home. SCOTT TATE is getting married. Scuttlebutt has it that Scott and Rachael will be married on March 19th in Jacksonville NC. I received an invitation but haven't heard from him otherwise sinc...
