July Birthdays and Events in the Clan . . .

Here are this month's celebrants:
  • Tom and Emily Tate celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary on JULY 3 2005. 87 and 85 years old respectively, they happily sipped Cherry Cokes in their Mesa AZ home to celebrate the event... Back in 1943 they had walked from the wedding ceremony to a local soda fountain and ordered Cherry Cokes to celebrate their union. I (and four other siblings) are certainly glad they chose each other! Congratulations!
  • On JULY 9 2005 Aviva Whetstone will celebrate her 83rd birthday. Residing in Israel with her hubby Arthur and son Vernon et al, she is right where she wants to be. God bless you, Aviva. "You Go, Girl!"
  • JULY 14 2005 will ring in year 52 for Tom R. Tate (aka T-2). With both kids grown, he only needs to find a babysitter for the dogs and he can go on that long-awaited trip to... ? Whatcha gonna do for your birthday, Bro?? Congrats, and have a great year!!

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S. I am printing out all the wonderful comments to the blog and also the emails I've received from so many, and taking them to Mom to read.
