Goin' Travelin'
Got a busy summer schedule coming up. If I EVER get my taxes done and mailed, then I can PACK for my first trip of the summer... to see SHERRY!!! Back in January, Vernon called and had asked if any of us might make it over to visit with Sherry over her birthday. As luck would have it, finances would not allow it at that time. But I've been saving pennies ever since, hoping to make a trip in the future. Then best buddy Jan Weston called and said she wanted to go see her mom (who also lives in Israel) and if we found cheap enough tickets would I like to go along? Answer: DUH, never suspecting that Jan was as resourceful as she is. She found incredibly priced tickets and long story short, we are leaving Phoenix on April 23. Then we found out that Gloria (Jan's sister) will be joining us as well! She lives in Kansas and will join us at Newark Airport, so Ethel (Jan's mom) will get to see TWO of her girls, she will be so happy. There will be a lot of events while we are in Israel, not the least of which will be Sherry and Vernon's 40th wedding anniversary, Ariel's 38th birthday, Papa Whetstone's 85th birthday, and Daphna's 19th birthday. A very special event will be on April 28th when Vernon will say Kaddish for our dad in the local synagogue. That, in fact, is one reason that propelled me to go visit now, so Sherry and I can exchange real time hugs instead of virtual ones, as we mark a year since Dad's passing. Our family is pretty far flung but it seems that the ones on the western side of the Pond still get to see each other more often that we get to see Sherry.
Anyway, on to other trips: On May 10th we plan on attending a reception for the wedding of our granson Paul Lowe. He and his sweetheart Shelley Chambers will be tying the knot in April but it will be a "destination" wedding (a beach in Florida), so the reception will be in Oklahoma where they will live, in May.
Then Jimmy and I hope to travel to New Mexico to *finally* visit his Aunt Margrete and celebrate her 94th birthday. We usually manage to get out to see her at least once a year, but did not make it at all last year.
And in June will be the Biggest Event Ever and the Best Trip Ever as we travel to Washington State to WELCOME DAVID BACK TO HOME SOIL. Yes, his time in Korea will be over and he will be posted to Fairchild Air Force Base. WOO HOO!!!! And WILD HORSES could not keep me from hugging him welcome home.
So that's the lineup. It's gonna be a busy summer. And I am chomping at the bit to get started.

21 days and counting!!! We had our usual Seder last night, it was warm, comforting, full of sharing and laughter. We are all now completely zonked out on food... Your summer sounds wonderful, and you're right -- the best part will be welcoming David home.
See you and Jan and Gloria soon!!!
We recently got back from a wonderful cruise to Mexico. Next, June leaves for Dublin, Ireland on the 23rd, and will be gone for 5 weeks. We are sure going to miss her, but she will also take a little vacation time while there, and visit a lot of the U.K. Nothing like wonderful Scottish sallmon!
