It's a New Year and a New Start

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here, I was really discouraged and did not want to do much of anything. But it's a new year and I need to get a new start on my life. I am grateful to all my family and friends who have been so supportive -- all of us to each other -- through the past many months.
And now it is time to get back to using this blog for what it was meant. To post news from, of, and about our family. Sherry is joining us as a team member, and I am looking forward to her posts (she promises photos, too)!
So let's get to it.

Welcome back to the family! I have checked this blog over the months hoping to see you back again, and I knew it would happen when you were sufficiently healed. I am so happy to see your first posting in many months and look forward to many more!

Bless you, Jan. I am so grateful for your love and support. My getting back in the blogosphere is in large part thanks to Sherry; without her prompting and pushing I would have let it go. Now I'm in the attitude of "it's gonna feel good to feel good again."

OK everyone, like Susan said I'm putting my toes into this whole new blogsphere thing. I've put up a baby blog, the name is "Sherryandthetribe" with a couple of entries in it. Tell me what ya think.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that your back with us. Healing is a slow process, but time, family, and friends help the process. We've all missed your posts.

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S.
