Lori Gans is Seriously Ill

Everyone, please pray for Lori Gans. Her health has gone downhill fast and she is now at a point they are starting hospice care, we don't know how much longer her liver will hold out. Her immediate family is being as supportive as humanly possible and she herself seems fairly calm about it, but you know they are going through Hell. If anyone would like to call Lori, Rickey and the girls to offer support, let me know and I will give you their telephone number. As Rickey said, "All prayers are appreciated. No matter how you pray or who you call Him, God hears our prayers."

Chi-Town

While in Chicago for the Family Reunion (photos of the reunion dinner itself yet to come), I stayed with my cousin Joan (Rizzo) Miller. Thanks, Cuz, for the fantastic hospitality! Joan's son Jimmy and his wonderful family (wife Kim and daughter Victoria) took me out for a day in "Chi-Town" that I will never forget. We visited Millenium Park with its famous Bean sculpture, Navy Pier (and of course rode on the ferris wheel!), the John Hancock Tower and the Sears Tower, Buckingham Fountain... not to mention our visit to Taste of Chicago... mmmm!! Independence Day 2007

I thought it appropriate to re-read our Declaration of Independence today, thinking of all the things that have changed, and the things that remian the same. As I eat hot dogs and potato salad today, I am reminded of all those who have gone before to secure our freedom, and I am acutely aware of the continual sacrifices made to ensure that a free America continues.
