A Walk in the Woods
This is a poem written by my good friend Frank Zellner, who lives in Pagosa Springs, CO. Click on the image to see the photo larger. I thought you all might enjoy pausing and reflecting with him. I did.
A WALK IN THE WOODS by Frank Zellner
2005
I awoke this morning to a beautiful fall day,
and decided a walk in the woods would be like play.
I put on my winter coat as I walked through the door,
My eyes feasted on the woodland beauty and my spirits did soar.
I chose a path littered with red and golden leaves,
as I walked the wild roses grabbed at my sleeves.
I took a deep breath and sucked in the fall air,
and suddenly had not a worry nor even a care.
And after I had walked for almost a mile,
I came upon a bridge that had been there for a long while.
The bridge reminded me of God's hand,
held out to help us as we journey this land.
As a lingered atop the bridge that day,
I saw a small chipmunk scurry away.
I heard the scream of the eagle as he flew overhead,
and I watched a small squirrel carry twigs for his bed.
I felt blessed to be in this place,
In the clouds I was sure I saw God's face.
I have seen beautiful things along this walk,
and I enjoyed the being with God.....we had a nice talk.
Should you choose to journey along this path my friends,
Cherish all that you see....... its beauty never ends.
