Scott joined the Marines

Many of you already know that Scott enlisted in the Marines. Well, "Recruit Tate, Scott" shipped out to Boot Camp on December 6th. PLEASE EVERYONE WRITE TO HIM, he will be there till March and needs support from all of us! If you need his address, let me know by email and I'll send it to you. The Marines is just about the most difficult boot camp of them all. When he first left, he was full of bravado and said he wouldn't want or expect any letters... less than 3 weeks later he contacted his mom and requested that any and all of the relatives that can please write him, he needs the encouragement. And any of you who have been thru boot camp know exactly how he feels and why.

No email address; they are not allowed such luxuries. Nor telephones, or cell phones, etc... I'll send you his mailing address so you can send him snail mail, ok?

Saddest News - Melonie Schollmeyer

I don't even know how to write this. We are all so very sad. Melonie Schollmeyer, a vibrant woman, our relative and friend, became suddenly ill over the weekend and passed away. Details at this point are sketchy. **(The following is updated info as of noon Monday)** Melonie's children, Brittany and Robert, just had their Confirmation on Saturday evening. Melonie was not feeling well enough to attend, and stayed at home with flu-like symptoms. Afterward the children, Mary, and Cheryl all visited with Mel before going taking the children to spend the night with Tom. The next day Cheryl and Mary could not raise Melonie by telephone and so asked Tom to go see how she was doing. He did so (thankfully the children stayed in the car) and found Melonie had passed away in the bedroom. The Medical Examiner's Office is doing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Edith Admitted to Hospital Again

Rick reports that his mom had been overdosed on Coumidin - an extremely dangerous anticoagulant drug - and also had an infection going on. Long story short, she is no longer at the physical rehab facility. She has been admitted again back into the hospital where both situations are hopefully being remedied, and she has the love and support of us all. Auntie Edith, hang in there, we all love you!!

Fast Update on Tom Tate

Dad did finally receive a tracheostomy yesterday, so that tube is gone out of his mouth and now sprouts from his chest. They tried to put the feeding tube down his nose but it keeps clogging up so today [or tomorrow] they will insert a port into his stomach... Later today or tomorrow we will start a search of local specialty hospitals that might have the criteria to care for Dad after his discharge from the ICU. I am headed for the hospital now, so please forgive the brevity of this post. Hugs to all, and thank you again for all your prayers. Susan P.S.
